Abstract
The reaction of triftuoromethyl'alkyl ketones Ia-e with acetylene in the presence of calcium acetylide afforded triftuoromethylalkylethynylcarbinols Ila-e and the corresponding glycols IIlb-e. Under the conditions used trifluoroacetone (fa) underwent autocondensation to 1, 1, 1, 5, 5, 5-hexafiuoro-2-methyl-2-pentanol-4-one (IV) wllose carbamate has probably a cyclic structure Vb.
