Novel naphthoquinones were designed, synthesized, and tested as substrate-based inhibitors against the membrane-embedded protein quinol/fumarate reductase (QFR) from Wolinella succinogenes, a target closely related to QFRs from the human pathogens Helicobacter pylori and Campylobacter jejuni.
