Abstract
Hydrolysis of the siloxycrotonate by lo (r, hydrochloric acid gave acetone and hexaethyldisiloxane. Reaction of the siloxycrotonate with acetyl chloride yielded triethylsilyl chloride and ethyl P-acetoxycrotonate. It is possible that the procedure described by Hauser and co-workers' for C-alkylation with t-butyl alcohol by means of boron trifluoride might give some of the compound from triethylsilanol and acetoacetic ester.
