Abstract

Initially, we attempted the synthesis of these compounds by treatment of aromatic amines with iodine in the presence of silver s~ lfate.~ Although ordinary iodoaromatic amines (2a, 2b and 2d) were obtained under the reported we could not obtain 2c in greater than 29% yield and 2c was contaminated with iodine.
