Abstract

Halex fluorination technique (halogen-exchange reactions of the corresponding chloro-aromatic compounds by potassium fluoride) is often employed for the preparation of aryl fluorides, but the method requires that the aryl chloride substrate possess strongly electron withdrawing substitutent such as CN, NO 2 , CF 3 , and COCl at the ortho and/or para positions of chlorine replaced by fluoride, which limits its scope.
