Abstract

Bacteriological tests2 on certain members of a series of 5-nitrofurfurylidene derivatives of quaternary ammonium acethydra~ ones~ indicated that these compounds have about the same level of antibacterial activity, in vitro, against a spectrum of selected organisms as does Furacin (5-nitrofurfural scmicarbazone), It was thought that lengthening and branching of the acid chain might enhance the desired type of action.
