Abstract

Abstract: The use of redox-active polyoxotungstate complexes to effect the cleavage of carbon-halogen bonds (CX, X= C1 or Br) by three distinct modes is demonstrated for the first time. The first mode involves direct thermal reaction of halocarbon substrates with H2Wlo0324-or a-HPW12O4o3-. The rate law for CC14 dehalogenation is V= k (H2W10032~)(CC14) and k (H2Wlo032G)/k (cu-HPW120~~ 3-)= 2.8. Several lines of ...
