Abstract

Selected monosubstituted pyridines, pyrazines, pyrimidines, and their N-oxides, having an electron-donating substituent, were successfully brominated under very mild conditions. The N-oxide function itself is not sufficient to cause these? r-deficient systems to undergo electrophilic aromatic halogenation.
