Abstract

Abstract The addition of Grignard reagents to the carbon-carbon triple bond of alkynes containing hydroxyl1, 2 or amino3 groups properly situated are well documented. When acetylenic alcohols with one carbon separating the triple bond from the hydroxyl group are reacted with allyl Grignard reagents a stereospecific addition is observed both in terms of site specificity and resulting double bond stereochemistry.
