Abstract
The gold-catalyzed transformation of furanynes 1 [1] represents one of the first homogeneous gold-catalyzed conversions with a broad scope; it was only preceded by the Ito–Sawamura–Hayashi asymmetric aldol reaction [2] and the nucleophilic addition reactions that form new CÀN and CÀO bonds.[3] The substrates 1 possess a 1, 6-enyne substructure and, for terminal alkynes, are reliably converted to I (Scheme 1).
