The bromides and tosylates of the 1-(4-methylphenyl) vinyl, 1-(2, 4-dimethylphenyl) vinyl, and 1-(2, 4, 6-trimethylpheny1) vinyl systems have been prepared and their rates of solvolysis measured in alcohol-water mixtures and in acetic acid in the temperature range
