Abstract

Abstract The usefulness of hexa-2, 5-diyn-1-ol as an intermediate in the synthesis of arachidonic acid, poly-yn alcohols and docosa-4, 7, 10, 13, 16, 19-hexaynoic acid is demonstrated. Difficulties in the partial reduction of the latter product to the corresponding all cis-hexaenoic acid are described.
