Abstract
Over the years, solvolytic studies have been of primary importance in determining the properties of carbocationic intermediates.'Classically, rates of solvolytic displacement reactions are determined by titrimetric methods, where the acid liberated as the solvolysis proceeds is titrated with standard base.
