Abstract
The six isomeric cis-and trans-2-(chlorophenyl) cyclohexanols with the chlorine in ortho, methu, and para positions have been synthesized and their stereochemistry investigated by NMR. The NMR spectra of all isomers and their corresponding acetoxy derivatives are consistent with structures in which the cyclohexane ring is in a chair conformation with the aromatic ring in equatorial orientation.
