Abstract

N-Benzoyl-e-methylaminocaproic Acid: The synthesis of e-methylaminocaproic cid based on the methylation of caproiactam10 proved poorly reproducible in our hands. We therefore prepared the acid from N-tosyl-e-methylaminocaproic acidll by removal of the tosyl group with hydrogen bromide in acetic acid12, 13: A mixture of the tosyl derivative (6· 0 g), phenol (4· 0 g), and 30% hydro-
