Abstract

The regiospecificity of the condensation of 2-amino-pyridines and α-halo carbonyl compounds has been established and exists even in the occurrence of steric effects. Using this regiospecificity peri disubstituted imidazo [1, 2-a] pyridines have been prepared. 13C and P NMR studies show profound differences between the spectra of peri disubstituted compounds and other disubstituted imidazo [1, 2-a] pyridines.
