Abstract

7 the involvement of the acetalization-selective deacetalization technique, with subsequent loss of overall yield, to differentiate the two carbonyl groups of 3. We describe here a novel synthesis of the retrosynthetically predictable trifunctionalized bicyclo [3.3. 0] octane 9, an advanced intermediate for the synthesis of 9 (0)-methanoprostacyclin, as outlined in Scheme I.
