Abstract

Summary The title compound 1 undergoes on n, n*-excitation vinylogous 8-cleavage of the C (y), 0-bondandisomerizes to theunsaturated l, Sdiketone8 (58%) and the tricyclic diketone9 (14%). Onn, x*-excitation, however, 1 undergoes only desoxygenation to the dienone 7 (ca. 15%) besides polymerization.
