Abstract
Four alkyl azides and phenyl azide have been investigated. The best yield (85%) of benzaldehyde is obtained using cyclohexyl azide2 and good yields (70-80%) are obtained using n-butyl, 2 n-hexyl2 or n-octy13 azides. Phenyl azide4 is unsuccessful in transforming acetophenone into benzaldehyde.
