Abstract

All these factors have contributed to the growing interest in finding a convenient and efficient synthetic route to pipecolic acid and related imino acids in high enantiomeric excess. Over the course of a project directed to the development of synthetic histone deacetylase inhibitors, 13 based on natural products such as Cyl-2, we found that a convenient route to enantiomerically pure pipecolic acids will be helpful.
