Abstract
By treating a hindered picryl ether with a hindered amine we have succeeded in forming neutral Meisenheimer prototype(I) in solution at low temperature and salts of the complexes with 2 mol of the amine. Meisenheimer complexes have recently '” been established as quinoid ionic structures in which the bonding at C-1 is covalent.'They are not chargetransfer complexes.
