Abstract

Second-order rate constants demonstrate the importance of ionic strength for the reactions of 1-benzyl-2, 4, 6triphenylpyridinium cation with anionic but not neutral nucleophiles. The logarithms of the rate constants decrease linearly with the solvent dielectric constants for iodide and with ET for piperidine.
