Abstract

Bent-core mesogens derived from 4-cyanoresorcinol with terminal alkyl chains have been synthesized and investigated by polarizing microscopy, XRD and electro-optical methods. Short chain compounds have exclusively nematic phases which can be cooled to ambient temperature.
