Abstract
I of 2-methylisoquinolinium iodide is allowed to react with a solution prepared by addition of 2 g-atoms of sodium and 2 moles of cyclopentadiene to absolute ethanol. The mixture is concentrated to yield a residue containing benz [f Iazulene (I); however, if the residue after dilution with diethylene glycol6 is subjected to superheated steam, the yield of I is higher.
