Abstract

Several natural products containing 2-(1-aminoethyl)thiazole-4-carboxylic acid 1 have been isolated from microorganisms that grow in marine and terrestrial biomass (Fig. 1). This scaffold has an asymmetric carbon atom on the α-aminoethyl group that biosynthetically derives from alanine.
