Abstract

Abstract The chromic acid oxidation of 2-tert-butyl-1, 2, 3, 4-tetrahydronaphthalene (1) 1 was carried out to provide 1-tetralones 2 and 3 for hydrogenolysis studies. 2 We noted the ratio of 2 to 3 as 5.8: 1.0, which prompted the preparation of 4 and 7 and their oxidation. The oxidation of 4 yielded 5: 6 (3: 1).
