Abstract

Myrtucommulone A (1; Figure 1) was first described in 1974 by Kashman and co-workers as a substance found in the common myrtle Myrtus communis L.[1a] These authors also reported that 1 is highly active against Gram-positive bacteria.[1b] Three years later Lounasmaa and co-workers [2] isolated myrtucommuloneA from other members of the myrtacea family.
