Abstract

The total syntheses of the microbial iron chelator desferrioxamine B hydrochloride and some analogues are described. The synthetic scheme is highly flexible, providing access to dihydroxamate, trihydroxamate, tetrahydroxamate, and higher homologues of desferrioxamine.
