Abstract
The only detailed investigation of Friedel-Crafts reactions on biphenyl is that of Adam, Z who studied the reactions of several halogenated hydrocarbons and acid derivatives. Several ke- tones have been prepared by various worker^.^ The present investigation has shown that the diacetyl and bis-(chloroacetyl) biphenyls are of the p, p '-type.
