Abstract

The aldol-type reaction is one of the most powerful tools for the construction of carbon–carbon bonds.1 Of which, the condensation of cycloalkanones with aldehydes to give the corresponding α,α'-bis(substituted benzylidene) cycloalkanones has been of special interest recently due to the increasing importance of α,α'-bis(substituted benzylidene) cyclo- alkanones as useful precursors to potentially bioactive pyrimidine derivatives.2 Classically, the synthesis of this kind of ...
