Abstract
Silacyclohexadiene 6 was the desired precursor of silatoluene 2 as it was hoped that this system would undergo thermally induced 1, 3-migration of the trimethylsilyl group to afford conjugated diene 7 followed by 8 elimination of trimethylmethoxysilane.
