Abstract

The synthesis of alkenes from carbonyl compounds and carbanions a to silicon is described. Methylenation of carbonyl compounds was accomplished by their reactions with trimethylsilylmethyl carbanion followed by treatment with thionyl chloride or acetyl chloride.
