Abstract

2, 3, 3-Triphenylpropionaldehyde has been prepared by the lithium aluminum hydride reduction of N-(2, 3, 3-triphenylpropiony1) azridine. The t-butyl peroxide-catalyzed decarbonylation of this aldehyde in o-dichlorobenzene solvent at 155-185" yielded monomeric product, s (15'%), consisting of l, l, Ztriphenylethane (957,) and triphenylethylene (57&), and a dimeric product (857,) whose infrared and n. nI. r. spectra were in accord with ...
