Abstract
Abstract A convenient transformation of 1, 1-dihydroperfluorinated alcohols into O- hydroxyethyl derivatives (RF CH 2 OCH 2 CH 2 OH) is described in which ethylene carbonate is utilized as the alkylating agent. Tetraalkylammonium iodides and trialkylamines are effective catalysts.
