Abstract

Hydrolysis of diethyl acetamidomalonate 1 catalyzed by α-chymotrypsin proceeded enantioselectively affording the dextrorotatory monoester, most likely having the (R)- configuration, which racemized in the course of the reaction with the rate being slower than that of the hydrolysis.
