Abstract
Abstract: A stereospecific efficient process for synthesis of atovaquone ie trans-2-[4-(4- chlorophenyl) cyclohexyl]-3-hydroxy-1, 4-naphthalenedione and its cis isomer from commercially available raw materials such as a-tetralone and 4-(4-chlorophenyl) cyclohexanone is described.
