Abstract
Martinellic acid (1a) and martinelline (1b) were isolated by Witherup, Varga and co-workers at Merck Research Laboratories from the roots of the tropical plant Martinella iquitosensis. 1 These alkaloids are the first naturally occurring nonpeptide bradykinin B 1 and B 2 receptor antagonists.
