Abstract

Addition of only 5% dioxane to heptane elevates the molecular rotation of the steroid from 0.33 X lo3 to 2.3 X lo3 (Table 111). In other words, the steroid in 5% dioxane-95% heptane behaves similarly to steroid in pure dioxane, a clear indication of a solvent-sorting phenomen0n. l'ORD would seem to provide a particularly sensitive method for assessing specific solvent effects.
