Abstract

The holographic behavior of 9-nitroanthracene in a poly (viny1 butyral) film at 466 and 458 nm indicates that a relatively clean unimolecular one-photon process occurs at these wavelengths, leading to the formation of 9-anthrol. The UV lines of an argon ion laser resulted in a weaker and different holographic behavior, which was attributed to the presence of secondary photochemical events.
