Abstract

2-Thienyl methyl ketone has been found to undergo the Willgerodt reaction with the yield dependent on the operation temperature. Temperature studies with 2-thienyl methyl ketone, 2, 5-dimethyl-3-thienyl methyl ketone and 3, 4-dimethyl-2-thienyl methyl ketone have shown that the yields of the corresponding amides decrease sharply above 160'.
