Abstract

Although more than 70 aliphatic and aromatic monoboronic acids have been described in the literature, there is no report of the synthesis of diboronic acids.'As part of a broad investigation of the physical and chemical properties of bifunctional organoboron compounds, syntheses of benzene-1, 4-diboronic acid (I) and benzene-l, 3-diboronic acid (11) have now been devised.
