Abstract
Abstract Dimethyl acetal formation during the ozonization of olefins in methanol followed by reduction with dimethyl sulfide has been occasionally reported in the literature. This acetalization can be completely suppressed, when the ozonization is carefully monitored by glc or tlc analysis and stopped immediately after the consumption of the olefin.
