Abstract
Abstract: The reduction of (methyl fumarato) pentaamminecobalt (III) has been reinvestigated. A variety of methods was used in searching for evidence of ester hydrolysis. All agreed in the conclusion, which is contrary to that published earlier, that there is no substantial amount of ester hydrolysis in the reactions, whether Cr2+, V2+, or Eu2+ is the reductant.
