Abstract

Allyl vinyl ether (I) was prepared by mercuric acetate catalyzed reaction of butyl vinyl ether with allyl alcohol, distilling the crude product directly from the reaction mixture held at 87". After fractional distillation, material containing 70% I was obtained. This was washed with water to remove allyl alcohol and dried over sodium sulfate.
