Abstract

In connection with another research project, a series of ethyl cycloalken-1-ylacetates was needed for analytical standards. An attractive route to them appeared to be dehydration of the respective [(ethoxycarbonyl) methyl]-cycloalkanols,'which are readily accessible by the Reformatsky reaction, 2 eq 1.
