Abstract

_c I C2H5-CH2-CH2-d I CH (CH3) 2 OCH3-CH2-CH2-derivative 11 [_51 (2Ohr, 95-lOO* C) which was selectively reduced at the a-carbonyl group with sodium borohydride (0, 6 mol in THF O* C, lhr) in high yield. The resulting alcohol [_6: X= H] was converted to the corresponding tosylate [g: X= Ts] by p-toluenesulfonyl chloride in the presence of pyridine (24hr, 25*(Y).
