Abstract
Preparation of a-Furfuryl Bromide Solution.-Twenty g. of freshly distilled a-furfuryl alcohol is dissolved in 200 g. of absolute ether and the soIution treated with 20 g. of phosphorus tribromide dissolved in about 30 cc. of absolute ether. The a-furfuryl alcohol used must be freshly distilled or, at most, pale yellow in color; samples having a dark color are unsuitable and will yield mostly polymerization products.
