Abstract
(4) The bond dissociation energy of the benzylic C-Si bond in la", BDE (CR), was calculated from the following equation, BDE (CR)= BDE-(PhCHz-SiMe3)-IP (PHCHzSiMe3)+ IP ('SiMe3). The bond dissociation energy was estimated to be 75 kcal/mol by taking the BDE for CHz= CHCHzSiMe3 (73 kcal/mol)'and adding the difference between the" resonance stabilization energies" for the allyl radical (12 kcal/mol)" and the benzyl radical (10 kcal/ ...
