Abstract

Lithium, sodium, potassium, cesium, and ammonium palmityl sulfates were prepared by sulfonation of n-hexadecanol, followed by treatment with the corresponding alkali carbonates; selectively deuterated palmityl sulfates were also synthesized to aid the assignment of certain vibrational modes.
