Abstract: The heterogeneous use of potassium permanganate, supported on copper (II) sulfate pentahydrate, provides a simple and effective means for oxidizing amines. Primary aliphatic amines, such as sec-butylamine, are oxidized to the corresponding carbonyl compounds in good to excellent yields.
